Anisotropic transport in the quasi-one-dimensional semiconductor Li0.33MoO3

چکیده
Transport measurements (electrical resistivity, Seebeck coefficient, and thermal conductivity) in the temperature range 80–500 K are presented for single crystals of the quasi-one-dimensional (Q1D) semiconductor Li0.33MoO3. Opposite signs are observed for the Seebeck coefficient along the trinclinic a and c axes, with Sc Sa ’ 250 lV/K near room temperature and ’100 lV/K at 380 K. The thermal conductivity at room temperature in the a-c planes was 2 W/m K and 10 times smaller along b*. A weak structural anomaly at Ts 355 K, identified in the temperaturedependent lattice constants, coincides with anomalies in the electrical properties. Analysis of the electronic transport at T>Ts favors an intrinsic semiconductor picture for transport along the most conducting Q1D axis and small-polaronic transport along the other directions, providing insight into the origin of the Seebeck anisotropy. In recent years, semiconductor nanostructures have become the model systems of choice for investigation of electrical conduction on short length scales. Quantum transport is studied in a two dimensional electron gas because of the combination of a large Fermi wavelength and large mean free path. In the present work, a numerical method is implemented in order to contribute to the understanding ...
متن کاملMeasuring anisotropic scattering in the cuprates
A simple model of anisotropic scattering in a quasi two-dimensional metal is studied. Its simplicity allows an analytic calculation of transport properties using the Boltzmann equation and relaxation time approximation. We argue that the c-axis magnetoresistance provides the key test of this model of transport. We compare this model with experiments on overdoped Tl-2201 and find reasonable agre...

Self-assembled InAs nanostructures in InP, comprising quantum wells, quantum wires, and quantum dots, are studied in terms of their formation and properties. In particular, the structural, optical, and anisotropic transport properties of the nanostructures are investigated. The focus is a comprehending exploration of the anisotropic in-plane transport in large ensembles of laterally coupled InA...

Sediment rating curve is an essential factor for many river engineering subjects and computations such as dredging, design of storage dams, river intakes design and sand mining management. Although, this curve is established using simultaneous measurement of flow and sediment transport discharges, however, due to lack of reliable data during flood events, it has limited reliability in flood con...
